The puppies colors have not completely solidified yet, but generally, their are 4-brownish and 2-blackish. They all have white socks, and both black have a lot of white on their chest. Here they are waking up after a long nap – three days older.

As you might imagine, it has been a busy and exciting two days here in the Haverkamp household. The (human) children are excited. Jamie and I are enamored (and a bit sleepy). The cat and the bunny are oh so curious. Mostly, a testament to the six tiny puppies and Rhubarb, whom has been an enthusiastic and devoted first time mother.

Based on yesterday’s x-ray, we thought we had a couple of weeks. We were wrong! Rhubarb started giving birth this morning, and finished this afternoon. In the end, she had 6 beautiful puppies – three boys and three girls. They are all doing wonderfully. Each puppy has already started nursing, and Rhubarb surely is a doting mother.

Well, Ruby had an x-ray today, and it appears as though seven puppies are growing in there. All appear healthy at this point, although one does look to be on the small side. We cannot predict an exact birthdate, but probably early November.
